The Mother's Day Special
I have never taken a trip on a whim. You see, im what they call the Type A personality, I organize and plan ahead of time when going on trips, I manage everyones time and yes, even money, you get the gist. So having a very spontaneous weekend trip was a leap from my comfort zone.
It was a very hot Wednesday and I just had enough of the Manila Sun I wanted to get away. I saw an ig story of my friend in Baguio and my brain went, fuck it, go to Baguio. So even before Juliana (my Type A alter Ego) was able to plan and check everything, Jolene (my happy go lucky alter ego) took over, looked at pictures and booked a hotel, paid it and goddamnit choose a non refundable one.
I had no choice but to go.
I told my mom and dad that I had already booked a hotel and they had no choice but to go to Baguio. My dad, knowing me, did not even argue, he knows in his heart of hearts, it was futile. (Yes, i am THAT daughter).
So, Jolene took over the whole trip and although Juliana comes up every once in a while to scream because the hotel Jolene booked did not have air conditioning, let alone a FAN! It was alright, Baguio was cold. Well, not Julie cold, but enough to not make you sweat and still sleep comfortably. Plus, the hotel was clean and the staff more than makes up for it, they were the real gem, honestly, I have never stayed in hotel with this much attentive staff and I have stayed in some 4-5 star hotels.
Jolene was fun, i gotta say, and Jolene was whom my mom needed that weekend. She winged every destination, even if there were throngs of people (i hate crowded spaces) she would say fuck it and go. She hiked up Igorot Stone Kingdom and took pictures with people. She walked thru the muddy farmlands of La Trinidad to get mom Strawberry picking, she got dad to drive up and down the narrow and mostly bumpy roads of Baguio. She even got Dad to eat the Carabao Bulalo he has been craving since he got in Baguio.
Jolene, even got dad who has a fear of heights, pose to get his picture taken by the edge of the Good Shepherd Monastary.
Jolene winged every bit of that weekend and probably gagged and bounded Juliana somewhere.
It was one of the best weekends my parents had, and now, Dad is saying, he cant wait to get surprised on Father's Day.
Im betting right now, Juliana is quacking.
xoxo,
JL
